Satisfaction 'Jamón de Huelva' by switching to 'Jabugo'

The name change request has the support and backing of numerous livestock and processing companies, organizations and institutions

The Control Board of the Designation of Origin (PDO) Jamón de Huelva has received with great satisfaction the decision of the High Court of Madrid on the change of the name of the designation of origin (PDO) Jamón de Huelva is recognized by PDO Jabugo.

This decision is historic because it is the first time a court ruled on the renaming of the DOP Ham of Huelva.

The name modification request submitted by the Regulatory Council of the PDO Jamón de Huelva in the current Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment has the support and backing of numerous livestock and processing companies, organizations and institutions since its approval would allow the twin objectives of protection in the European Union gastronomic heritage representing the term "Jabugo" and promote it under the specifications of a Denomination of Origin since that term is being used indiscriminately by anyone, anywhere World and accompanying any type of ham.

Consequently, the judgment of the High Court of Madrid recognizes what is common sense and try to remedy the vulnerability that is perpetuated over time and cause the loss of intangible heritage that the term "Jabugo" assumed for the gastronomy of Andalusia and Spain and the potential for rural development, economic-social-environmental, for Jabugo linked to the environment in the Sierra de Huelva livestock and processor.

The Regulatory Council and its registered companies want that the sentence is met as quickly as possible so they are available to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment to collaborate so that the PDO Jabugo a reality.
